Valve is making a change to its schedule of huge Steam gross sales. Starting in 2023, the corporate shall be changing the Lunar New Year sale, which it has run since 2016, with an annual spring sale, the corporate introduced on Tuesday. The first model of this spring sale will happen from March sixteenth to March twenty third.

“The addition of a Spring Sale was a popular request from our developer and publisher community,” Valve says in a blog post about the news. “It will allow us to create more space between our four major seasonal sales and provide more opportunities throughout the year for developers to expand and execute their discounting calendar.”

As for why it’s discontinuing the Lunar New Year sale, which usually befell in late January or early February, Valve mentioned it acquired suggestions that the sale was too near the “December holiday sale period.” That mentioned, Valve expects that some publishers will nonetheless low cost their video games across the Lunar New Year sooner or later.

With this new spring sale, there’ll now be a serious Steam sale for every season, and Valve has already shared the dates for its upcoming autumn and winter gross sales. The autumn sale will happen from November twenty second to November twenty ninth, whereas the winter sale will occur from December twenty second to January fifth.
