This week Dark Horse Comics will release The Ward #4. The remaining challenge of the fantasy medical drama comes from author Cavan Scott, artist Andres Ponce, letterer Mauro Mantella, and canopy artists Ponce and Franco Riesco. Today The Beat is comfortable to share an unique first take a look at the story’s concluding chapter, which finds St. Lillith’s on the middle of a supernatural disaster.

A supernatural epidemic is sweeping the town of Kirton-sparing nobody, human or not. The screams of the contaminated wail by St. Lilith’s with no treatment in sight. Patients are spilling into the hallways and being turned away. Dr. Nat Reeves is doing all she will be able to, however she’s only one individual. Saving the town might require drastic measures . . .
Described as “Hellboy meets ER,” The Ward focuses on a secret hospital for supernatural creatures within the fictional metropolis of Kirton. Back when the collection was first introduced, author Cavan Scott described his inspiration for the collection and its primary character, Dr. Nat Reeves:
“I’ve always been fascinated in ordinary people doing extraordinary things in the most incredible of situations,” says Scott, “and that actually describes the indomitable Nat Reeves as she plunges head first right into a shift in the world’s solely emergency room for supernatural entities.
