In Pearl III #2, a reader can see (or intuit) what author Brian Bendis does nicely: present character. In a difficulty that is completely about coping with the fallout of an assault on the titular Pearl’s tattoo store, Bendis and Michael Gaydos expertly present Pearl navigating the numerous totally different relationships that must be up to date with the information.

Case in level is the interview with an FBI agent that Pearl pretends to be shell-shocked and unintelligent to navigate her approach out of. There are plenty of phrase balloons, and whereas not all the phrase balloons are strictly vital, they do give a way of a forwards and backwards between the 2 characters. When not being interrogated by the FBI, Pearl’s extra open. Sadly, due to a mix of a foul .pdf (possibly 1 / 4 of a web page, for a number of pages, is lacking) and double-page spreads is tough to understand or analyze on a pc, the buildup to the ending of Pearl III #2 is ruined. Luckily Pearl III #2 ends on a splash panel with solely two small phrase balloons, so the impact is considerably salvaged.
