While there have been rumors right here and there over the previous few months (and years) relating to a King of the Hill revival, nothing has but been made official. Well, the return of Hank Hill and his beloved propane and propane equipment may very properly be on the Texas horizon, as creator Mike Judge supplied a promising replace on the ongoing San Diego Comic-Con.
“King of the Hill has a very good chance of coming back.”
Though this isn’t precisely a reveal worthy of cheering, hooting, and applause (and never that Hank would approve of any of that tomfoolery), Judge actually sounds assured that King of the Hill will ultimately return. Responding to a fan query on the Comic-Con occasion (by way of THR), Judge’s use of the phrase “very” is hopefully simply sufficient to maintain King of the Hill followers in the interim.
Both King of the Hill creators Mike Judge and Greg Daniels have teased a series revival recently. Since forming the animation firm Bandera Entertainment, each Judge and Daniels have teased future tasks, with stories claiming that the corporate will see “the return of former Fox favorite King of the Hill.” While lots of the tasks are anticipated to be undertaken by different artists, Judge additional teased the return of the Hills when saying, “There’s one show that I might be a co-creator of but the rest, it’s mentoring other people and getting people together and being a studio in that regard.”
This isn’t the one trace {that a} King of the Hill revival is on the playing cards. In truth, writer-producer Brent Forrester did a little more than hint, stating the present would return and even revealing that the story would decide up 15 years after the unique run ended.
“I am sure [series creators] Greg Daniels and Mike Judge will murder me for sharing this but… HELL YES,” Forrester revealed. “They are in hot negotiations to bring back King of the Hill. The Trump administration made it suddenly very relevant again. The characters have all aged 15 years. The project is sooooo good. Okay I’ve said too much.”
Airing between 1997 and 2009, King of the Hill ran for 13 seasons and follows the Hills, an American household residing within the fictional metropolis of Arlen, Texas. Everyman Hank Hill works as assistant supervisor at Strickland Propane, and genuinely loves each second of it, and lives together with his spouse Peggy, a substitute instructor with delusions of grandeur; his son Bobby, with whom Hank has little in frequent; his adorably ditzy niece Luanne; and his pet bloodhound Lady Bird. The collection follows the Hills as they handle to get themselves caught up in practical, even charmingly mundane adventures. King of the Hill was met with essential acclaim all through its run, and little question many would like to see Hank, Dale, Bill, and Boomhauer return to that alley all these years later.
For now, Mike Judge followers can sit again and benefit from the revival of one other of his creations in Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe, which was launched on the streaming service Paramount+ on June 23, 2022.
