I’m interested in your marketing strategy particularly round how, within the early days, people mentioned, “Well, you have to be in New York.” “Well, you have to be in L.A.” You mentioned, “No, I’m gonna do it my way, and I’m going to focus it in a different way, and I’m going to think about things in a different way.” What made you hit on that technique?

Being in Austin was a part of the DNA of my model. The model, the aesthetic, the music, the tradition, which, so many individuals again 20 years in the past did not know Austin. Now persons are like, “It’s the buzz,” proper? 

It actually had this wonderful vibe, and it was a part of the design course of for me. I might be influenced by all the good issues taking place in my metropolis. Editors and others would say, “Well, you’re not going to have a legitimate fashion business if you’re not on one of the coasts.” I simply was like, “No.”

Then they’d see my assortment. They’d be like, “This is so refreshing and amazing, and I love the color, and I love how you’re utilizing all these new shapes and cuts and different things.”

You stroll into the Kendra Scott sales space, and we’re doing our personal factor. So sticking to that and being happy with the place I used to be from. I wasn’t going to let that cease me.
