Disney CEO Bob Chapek has introduced that the studio’s two upcoming titles — superhero film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Ryan Reynolds’ Free Guy — might be launched solely in theatres.

During an earnings name on Thursday, Chapek mentioned each movies could have a 45-day unique run in cinemas after which they’ll develop into accessible on video-on-demand and streaming.

Free Guy, which comes from Disney-owned twentieth Century Studios, will release within the US on August 13, whereas the Simu Liu-starrer Shang-Chi will three weeks afterward September 3.

According to Variety, Chapek mentioned the corporate has seen “recent signs of increased confidence” amongst audiences for the film going expertise.

The announcement got here hours after the studio introduced that Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt-starrer journey movie Jungle Cruise will debut in theatres and on streamer Disney Plus on the identical day.

The film joins Emma Stone-starrer Cruella and Marvel Studios’ Black Widow, that includes Scarlett Johansson, to have a day-and-date release in theatres and on Disney Plus.
