We don’t know if Arth was pure fiction or director Mahesh Bhatt took a leaf out of his personal life and wove a narrative round it. Shabana Azmi received her second National Film Award for her seminal efficiency within the movie. Inder (Kulbhushan Kharbanda), an egotistical movie director is married to Pooja (Shabana Azmi). He has a profitable affiliation with an actress Kavita (Smita Patil) and begins an affair along with her. Inder divorces Pooja for the sake of Kavita. A heartbroken Pooja is consoled by a good-natured singer Raj (Raj Kiran). Ironically, Kavita leaves Inder and Pooja too rejects him when he desires to make amends. She’s keen on Raj however in the end doesn’t need to depend upon him. She desires to present that means to her life herself and never be depending on any man to take action. She embarks on a journey of self-discovery, making her peace with Inder’s infidelity in the direction of the tip. The movie’s spotlight was the confrontation scene between Shabana and Smita, the place the previous let go of all inhibitions and goes hammer and tongs in opposition to the lady she perceives as a housebreaker.
